Our very first white blend

BACKGROUND

Ashari, is a wine that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. As our first white blend, it is the result of listening to the land where we live and farm, and working with Mother Nature.

It is a gift from all of our best grapes, becoming greater than the sum of their parts, when brought together. It reflects the individual characteristics of each variety but is combined to create a complex, expressive wine with aromas of lemon, pears and a subtle creamy texture on the palate.

Like any great blend, grandchildren are also a gift. They are a delight on their own, but when together, they are an overwhelming joy. This wine is dedicated to our wonderful grandchildren — Ash & Ari, whom we love to listen to whatever they have to tell us.

WINEMAKING

This wine is about complexity and texture, getting ripe fruit flavours to sit harmoniously with these characters. We harvest the grapes between 13- 13.50Be. Handpicked grapes are whole bunched pressed as a blend, with pressings being blended back into free run juice. Racked to old French barrique barrels with some solids inclusion for the portion of juice that underwent barrel ferment with inoculated yeast. Five months barrel maturation on lees.

COLOUR

Bright Straw.

AROMA

Complex combination of wax, green olives, citrus and apricot.

PALATE

A rich textural palate. Apricot, pear and green olive abundant on the palate. Fruit weight is balanced with a bright acid line and a creamy/nutty edge creating a “moreish” medium finish.

CELLARING

Drink now or cellar for up to 15 years.
